La statuetta – che decorava il peristilio della Casa dei Vettii -  rappresenta un giovane Bacco nudo, in piedi, secondo un tipo iconografico,  molto diffuso in età romana, derivante da originali greci di IV sec. a.C.  prodotti da scultori della cerchia di Prassitele.

The statuette - which decorated the peristyle of the Casa dei Vettii - represents a young naked Bacchus, standing, according to an iconographic type, very common in Roman times, deriving from Greek originals of the 4th century. b.C. produced by sculptors of Praxiteles' circle.

 

Statuetta di Venere

Pompei, Casa del Larario fiorito (II 9,4), ambiente 8

Ritrovata in un ambiente della Casa del Larario Fiorito che si aprivano sul giardino, di cui forse costituiva parte dell’arredo, la statuetta rappresenta una figura femminile scalza, in posizione stante e appoggiata a un sostegno, interpretata come Venere. Tracce di colore giallo si conservano sul mantello, sulla cintura e sulla capigliatura, mentre tracce di colore nero sono evidenti intorno agli occhi e sulle sopracciglia.

Found in a room of the Casa del Larario Fiorito that opened onto the garden, of which it perhaps formed part of the furnishings, the statuette represents a barefoot female figure, in a standing position and leaning on a support, interpreted as Venus. Traces of yellow color are preserved on the cloak, belt and hair, while traces of black color are evident around the eyes and eyebrows.
